What is your specialty, what makes your work unique? Or place your artist's statement.

NVDP is a non-binary graphic designer who uses the complexity of our contemporary crises as a guideline to create new narratives — making use of pop culture and as internet, meme-, sub- and countercultural references to create an abrasive visual language. They try to reappropriate the consumerist propaganda languages and use them in autonomous projects to disrupt the preconceived notions around existing power structures. In their work they combine theory, politics and philosophy and adds a poetic sentiment to create a sense of meaningful necessity. Their body of work is an outspoken visual phenomenon: a stream of consciousness that allows for a more artistic, thought provoking, abstract and emotional interaction that sits on the skin. To love or to hate.

What are your ambitions? What do you want to be in five years?

Within five years I hope to graduate from the Design Department of the Sandberg Institute. The coming year(s) I will prepare for that journey. I want to explore and experiment outside the walls of the academy, work at studios, do internships and collaborations to further my research and experiences. I also hope to be able to get published and be part of solo and/or collective exhibitions. It has also been a long time dream to create and develop a platform that allows designers, (fine) artists and researchers to submit and publish their (visual) essays and thought experiments.

What is the most important thing you have learned during your studies?

During my time at the academy, the most important thing I've learned is to keep pushing forward, to follow your fascinations and challenge those ideas. Expand your mind, Exercise your body and Experiment within your practice. I have learned and developed skills in research, critical thinking and self reflection. Skills that are necessary in order to built a sustainable and critical practice. I have also learned when to rely on myself and when to reach out.
