What is your specialty, what makes your work unique? Or place your artist's statement.
I have always been interested in the natural world, and often realize how little I know about it. Driven by curiosity, I try to create a sense of awe for unseen everyday phenomena in nature, while also questioning nature’s relation with technology. A leaf of grass, a rock, a blue sky or a body of water: these ordinary aspects of nature are often the starting point for a bigger story in my work.
I learn more by constructing my own research, similar to how a scientist would learn from experiments. This is why my work often functions as a form of education, for myself, but also for the viewer.
By using the camera, both as telescope and microscope, I am able to take on different perspectives and alter the way I see the natural world. My studio often functions as a laboratory, where I can construct, examine and alter images while using both fictional and documentary elements.
What are your ambitions? What do you want to be in five years?
In five years, I want to work in the professional field of photography and film, both commercially and autonomously.
What is the most important thing you have learned during your studies?
A simple idea is often the best one.
