Moderator Phelim Hoey
is an Amsterdam-based visual artist (b. 1984, NL/IE) who studied
documentary photography at the School of the Arts (HKU in Utrecht.
Incorporating a varied range of media – whether photography, film,
ceramics or sculptural installation – Hoey’s work can be read as a form
of conceptual storytelling.
Guest Anika Schwarzlose
is a German (1982) visual artist, researcher and lecturer living and
working in Amsterdam. She studied Photography at Rietveld Academy and
Fine Arts at Malmö Art Academy. In her work, she explores the power of
images in the representation of political or historical events.
Schwarzlose examines lens-based recordings and media, specifically the
influence of dispersion, adaptation and composition of images on
specific narratives. She has exhibited throughout Europe.
Her latest work is a film.

Moderator Kevin Osepa is
a visual artist (working with film and photography) born and raised on
the island of Curaçao and is now based in the Netherlands. His work
revolves around his identity and the Afro-Caribbean identity in a
post-colonial world.
Guest Hanne van der Woude
was born in 1982 in Nijmegen. She studied photography at ArtEZ, the
School of Arts in Arnhem, where she lives and works as a photographer.
After her studies, she devoted several years to independent projects,
as, for example, MC1R – Natural Red Hair (2005-2008) and Emmy’s World
(2009-2015). An elementary component of Hanne van der Woude’s portrait
series is the intensive observation of human behaviour and their
environment. She mostly discovers her subjects on the street.

Guest Jan Rosseel studied documentary photography at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague, The Netherlands and photojournalism at the Danish School of Media and Journalism in Aarhus, Denmark. He was the first artist to be awarded a research fellowship at the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Studies in Social Sciences.
His work is best described as visual storytelling, between narration and documentation. He works as a collector of memories using photography, video and objects.
