What is your specialty, what makes your work unique? Or place your artist's statement.

Hello, I'm Sas.

I would describe myself mainly as a Technical Artist, mainly working in SideFx Houdini. I have a passion for making the unachievable, achievable, by providing people with tools they can use to do things they otherwise wouldn't be able to do with conventional solutions.
I went this route because I wanted to achieve things in 3D animation that were very hard using the tools you'd generally find in 3D modelling packages. I love giving people the power to do something they deemed impossible before, knowing it became possible for them because I was able to figure out a clever way to do it.

That is only one side of the story though. I love working for other people, but I am an artist in my own right as well. I mainly dove into the technical side of 3D graphics in the hope of finding ways to translate and incorporate my own experiences with Alice in Wonderland Syndrome (neurological disorder that distorts perception in certain ways) into animation. For now, I've only been able to do it through drawings, sculpts, and music, in a more abstract sense, but I hope to keep working out ways to make CG imagery that would portray these experiences that impacted me throughout most of my life, in a way that feels right to me.

What are your ambitions? What do you want to be in five years?

My goals are to live with a roof above my head, have a stable income from a job that wouldn't compromise my overall wellbeing and safety, and to gradually pay off my student loans.

What is the most important thing you have learned during your studies?

One of the most important things I've learned is to manage expectations and be realistic with ambition. When a project starts I'll have a whole storm of ideas that I rush to draft and iterate on, but those then often turn out to be too big. Through experience with doing small jobs for others both in and outside of school, I managed to get a more realistic grasp of what's possible within a certain timespan.
