What is your specialty, what makes your work unique? Or place your artist's statement.

When you read a book you can imagine everything yourself. When you see a live-action movie everything gets visualized for you. Animation is the best of both worlds in my opinion. A stylized reality that still leaves room for the audience's own interpretation, but at the same time gives the creator an opportunity to visually guide the viewer.

With character animation I try to be the link between the story and the audience. A character animation offers someone something familiar in an abstracted world. Something human to hold on to. I’m not trying to be perfectly realistic, I’m trying to be effective. To me it’s about the acting being believable and clear. It's about conveying a feeling to those who see it.

What are your ambitions? What do you want to be in five years?

I hope to be surrounded by like-minded people that will bring out the best in my creative abilities. Maybe in a small scale studio setting. That we can make fun and impactful projects with an emphasis on character animation. I want to keep my mind open for new things and to amaze people with animation.

What is the most important thing you have learned during your studies?

Apart from all the technical knowledge I acquired over the years I would say collaboration is the biggest lesson. Not because I was not capable of that before but for how it has proven to work so well for me. I’ve had some great collaborations in the past four years. It’s really encouraging to work in a group where you stimulate each other to get the best possible result for a project.
