What is your specialty, what makes your work unique? Or place your artist's statement.
My multicultural heritage has had a major impact on me as a designer. As someone with this background, I can look at things from different perspectives, touching upon cultural themes and bringing light to historical heritages that carry incredible stories. We are surrounded by ‘remarkable’ stuff and tend to overlook somebody else’s prized possession, as they seem inconspicuous to us. I seek for these hidden treasures and I want to unfold the unspoken. These personal items and stories are what make us who we are. They remind us, where we are from. Everyone is different and carries something unique and through my work, I want to make that visual. Therefore design enables me to express myself.
What are your ambitions? What do you want to be in five years?
In the next 5 years, I would like to continue developing myself within the graphic profession. To gain experience abroad, at design studio’s as well as doing some internships. Hence I hope that I will keep doing what I like and achieved progression in life, from where I am today till then.
What is the most important thing you have learned during your studies?
To not be afraid to make mistakes. As long as I pursue my fascinations and try to emerge this with my work, I will certainly continue to grow as a designer. By continuing to experiment and explore new techniques and/or utterances. To keep challenging ‘myself’ and willing to take risks.
