What is your specialty, what makes your work unique? Or place your artist's statement.
I make abstract colorful works that vary between being 2- and 3-dimentional. At the core my work is about color. In both my drawings and installations, I want people to see color and experience it as though it were a living thing. My installations can be described as paintings you can walk into and my wall works are pieces of installations that walked off to live on their own.
I work with a minimal visual vocabulary, with lots of repetition of the same elements. My primary materials are textiles, notably strings. I am focused on the flow and movement of string, the organic shapes and tangled knots it creates when left to its own devices.
String very much has a mind of its own and working with it is an act of negotiation between my ideas and the will of the strings.
But string is not purely a visual material. It invites touch. Something that I am actively exploring in my installations. I make colorful environments that you can enter and play with.
Being able to touch the work and experience it with your entire body rather than just your eyes fosters a more playful approach to it.
