Artist statement; wat is je specialisme, wat maakt jouw werk uniek?

In my work I experiment a lot with color, texture and how they convey emotion. This paired with the subtle emotions you can create with small movements is why I love being an animator. I'm also very interested in narrative, I like to create images around a subject and see where the editing takes the story. In my drawings and films I like to cover topics like femininity and intimacy. I draw most of my inspiration out of everyday life and my own experiences. This way I can show my own unique perspective in my work.

Wat zijn je ambities? Wat wil je over vijf jaar bereikt hebben?

I entered the field of animation because there are so many different things you can do within one production. If you don't want to animate you can design, make color keys or edit.
In 5 years I would love to have worked on multiple productions and polish my skill set in various stages of the production pipeline.
With this knowledge I would love to start a small studio with a couple of fellow filmmakers, where we can combine all our skill sets to create work that goes beyond what we could create as individuals.

Wat is het belangrijkste dat je hebt geleerd tijdens je studie?

I have learned to step out of my comfort zone and allow myself to experiment. To trust that I have interesting story's that are worth telling.
