What is your specialty, what makes your work unique? Or place your artist's statement.
Xuan is a multi disciplinary contemporary artist who makes installations. She invites the audience to step into her inner world and let them feel all her emotions, fears and anxiety.
Often with her work, questions like; is this fashion? or is this art? comes up during conversations.
Xuan uses her illustration skills together with several textiles making techniques all together like how you would make a paper collage. For her, all her materials she reaches for are like as if they listen and talk back to her. It's her way of expressing and communicating. Making art is her way of therapy.
What are your ambitions? What do you want to be in five years?
As a Dutch/ Asian artist, I would like to have shown more of myself in the art and fashion world here in The Netherlands. To be seen and show that there are asian creatives around.
I would also like to follow artist in residencies and give workshops to others with how to visualise your world or visions with your emotions or anxiety.
What is the most important thing you have learned during your studies?
To be really myself and how to have your signature. I have also learned about my perfectionism what it can do with you and how to fight it.
