What is your specialty, what makes your work unique? Or place your artist's statement.
As a Music Designer for Games I focus on two subjects: composing melodic themes and designing interactive music.
A good melodic theme can help make a soundtrack memorable. Who doesn’t remember the music of Super Mario Bros. or The Legend of Zelda?
Interactivity is what makes games different from other mediums, like film and tv. To complement the interactive nature of games, I’m of the opinion that the music should also be interactive.
– When the music and gameplay are in sync, it helps to create a more cohesive experience
– It can be used to convey non-visual gameplay information to the player
– It can be used to foreshadow a situation to the player
What are your ambitions? What do you want to be in five years?
In five years time I want to have worked on many game projects. I want to have gained a lot of experience in working with like-minded creative people. I want to be part of projects that I can be proud of. I want to have tried out new and exciting things that push the boundaries of the medium or bring something new to the table.
What is the most important thing you have learned during your studies?
The most important thing that I've learned during my time at HKU is to take the time to experiment and come up with new and interesting things.
