What is your specialty, what makes your work unique? Or place your artist's statement.
Coming from the south of Italy, with my work I challenge the stigmas of my own culture and personal beliefs, without abandoning the craft that was inherited from them. I use my fascinations and personal history to create symbols, in order to outline an autonomous visual language. Themes like child abuse, emotional impairment and cultural awareness can be said to lead my most recent process. The use of ceramic and drawing helps me to both understand and challenge the traditions that are responsible for such a big part of who I am now. By addressing my own experience to connect to that of the viewers, I aim to elevate my images from personal to universal.
What are your ambitions? What do you want to be in five years?
I would like to have a stable professional practice that allows me to live and keep doing what I like.
What is the most important thing you have learned during your studies?
That questioning everything is fundamental.
