In this three-part series of tattoo designs I map the connection between people and the world, through the tattoo as a "ritual".
Where once - and in some places still - the tattoo functioned as an initiation ritual, is it mainly aesthetic in Western culture and marks personal memories.
I try to translate a number of major changes in human life into a visual narrative, which leaves room for interpretation to the individual. A new form of tattooing that lets the body tell a story. And thus can offer closure to things that seem to be intangible sometimes, such as going through an addiction, fighting for an ideal, or dedicating an important lesson to yourself.
I became aware that the correlation between yourself, culture, society and the world is the area of responsibility.
The connection between identity and surroundings, that determines how we find meaning.
