Re-Construct
Ik verbind.
In alles wat ik doe.
Als maker en als educator.
De wereld zoals we die kennen verdwijnt. Ik zie dat mijn generatie zich machteloos voelt maar toch tracht grip te krijgen op de toekomst.
In dit werk probeer ik te reconstrueren wat vervlogen lijkt te zijn. Door het tonen van de negatieve ruimtes van takken, laat ik ze bestaan in hun niet bestaan. En verbind ik ze met elkaar - een hopeloze poging om vast te houden.
Ook binnen mijn kunst-educatieve project The Multi-Perspective Art Universe (TMPAU), zet ik mij in voor verbinding.

Aan mensen in de kunstwereld afkomstig uit acht verschillende landen, heb ik de volgende vraag voorgelegd:
'Wat vind jij dat ik moet weten om kunst afkomstig uit je land te kunnen begrijpen?'
Vanuit deze antwoorden heb ik het communicatiespel TMPAU ontwikkeld. Het is aan ons om de kunstwereld uit te breiden en zo de kunstgeschiedenis te herschrijven, om te komen tot een completere en inclusievere wereld.

I connect,
In everything I do.
As an artist and as an educator.
My work tries to reconstruct what is lost. Trying to hold on or grip tightly that what threatens to slip away. The world we know is disappearing. My generation feels powerless, yet desperately tries to hold on to our future. By showing the negative spaces of branches, they exist while not existing. And I connect the separate parts in a hopeless attempt to hold on.
At the same time I created a project called The Multi-Perspective Art Universe (TMPAU), where I connected with people around the globe. I asked art representatives from 8 countries around the world:
‘What do you think I should know, to properly understand art from your country?’
Based on the answers I got in these conversations, I developed a communication tool called TMPAU. This concept developed from the realisation that:
'Our known art history is only one of many possible versions of art history'*
I believe we can rewrite and reconstruct our current vision of art & art history and that together we can create a more complete and more inclusive world, where we can truly connect with one another.
